Meet William Good

About Me:

I'm passionate about authenticity, and that passion seems to transcend every aspect of my life, be it family, work, worship, or play.  My journey towards authentic photography began a decade ago when I started down a path of discovery.  I realized an internal desire to pursue a life full of creativity.

Although photography was a minor part of my high school and collegiate experience, never had I imagined professional photography would be on the horizon.  Through a series of fortunate experiences, I had the opportunity to utilize photography to create authentic images for websites and printed promotional materials. That lead to volunteer opportunities for family photography, then wedding photography.

But my journey didn't end with enjoying capturing authentic moments on film/digital media.  It just began there.  Hearing the stories told by many friends and family of poor experiences with their photographers, be it the local portrait studio, the family friend, or the company with the biggest ad in the yellow pages (what are those?), I felt a sense of injustice.  Why should anyone have to suffer a poor experience just for good photos?  What if the photos weren't even that great?  It's those questions, personal desires, and the encouragement of some good friends, which lead to William Good Photography.

About My Photography Passion:

Authenticity is my mantra, and I highly covet the opportunity to capture my subjects in moments of vulnerability. In those raw yet rare moments of complete candor does one seemingly enter the world of the unedited subject. And it takes work to get there- time spent with each client without the camera in hand is essential to creating an atmosphere of comfort. But that time is well worth it, for often that naked and soulful interaction produces an image that goes deeper than mere paper. Those authentic moments inspire my work.

Gerred and Jessica celebrate their wedding at Forest Park!
at The Jewel Box in Forest Park with reception at the Forest Park Golf Club

I loved working with Gerred and Jessica. Our engagement session together worked out so well- they both got comfortable simply being themselves in front of the camera. And that made a huge differene in my favorite images! I love these moments, when a bride and a groom can just enjoy their day and each other. Check out an extended set of sneak peaks below! You can also register to view photos from Gerred and Jessica's wedding.

Photography News

In June I had the opportunity to photograph Felipe and Zarana to help them celebrate their engagement. Today Felipe was promoted to Second Lieutenant and joined the US Marine Corps Officer ranks! He invited me to come and photograph his promotion ceremony. The ceremony was held in Kiener Plaza, and with the Arch and Old Courthouse as a backdrop, it was simply amazing.

As a US American citizen, I am proud of the men and women who serve boldly in our armed forces. Congratulations Felipe - I am glad to have been a part of your day!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with Abby in Old Town St. Charles. We had a great session and took advantage of the many textures St. Charles has to offer, as well as the last hours of warm sunglight. You can check out some of my favorite images and a slideshow.
